I have been looking to switch brands of cigars, only because I want something new. I really like they ones I have been smoking now, but it doen’t hurt to refresh your palatte with a new, different flavor. Since I have smoked the same cigars for years, I don’t know too much about other brands, what is good, and what is not. So I did some searching on the web and found some Cigar Samplers that give you a variety of one type of cigar. This is the perfect way to try new brands and is sometimes pretty inexpensive. Having a choice between different sizes, flavors and strengths is great. You can start with the mildest and work your way up to the strongest cigars. I am usually in between the two strengths, but the newest one that I tried is a CAO Sampler and it has a mild cigar in it that I really loved. These cigars are also flavored, which I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed them. My wife actually found the aroma to be a bit more pleasant than my typical cigars. I don’t think that these will become my staple cigar, but they are quite refreshing. I have found some others by different manufacturers that I would like to try, none of them are flavored, so I am hoping to find one that I will be able to enjoy daily. I have also been to a few cigar parties where they promote Cigar Samplers for the brand they are featuring. Unfortunately, it has been a long time since I have been to one. I enjoy the parties because they always have a lot of information about all of the cigars and for me I love it. The more I know the better decision I can make about what I want to smoke.

The Best Way to Try New Cigars
Friday, April 30th, 2010Sample White Owl Blunts
Tuesday, April 6th, 2010White Owl Cigars have been about for many many years and I have smoked them for so long as i can remember. I discovered an article from July 1932 about the General Cigar company, which manufacturer’s White Owls. At the time, these machine made cigars were being sold at seven cents. And that price was a bit to high for cigar smokers of that day. The median price of a machine made was about 5 cents. Many people went to General to make them decrease their price down to five cents. Not only did they want the price decreased, but they didn’t require the smoke to be modified at all . They wanted the same size and quality filler at a cheaper price. White Owl cigars are made with the costliest filler the US grows and is a quality cigar that some aficionado’s did not care paying some additional cents. Many executives of the company were not ready to change the price, they’d be making the lowest profit from the change and other corporations using scraps and damaged ends of tobacco would still be making a high profit margin, for less superior cigars. In the end, the decision was made to low the costs, but keeping the practice of great long filler and over sized cigars. Once the reduction was put into effect, the company broke records for rapid increase in consumption. They were able to do this with organized production and vast output. I only wish they continue to only cost five cents per cigar, that would save me a lot of money, i think i would be fine with paying the seven cents too.
A way to keep your Cigar in Ideal Condition
Wednesday, March 17th, 2010For people who smoke stogies, it can become something of an obsession. As time passes, cigar smokers frequently develop precise rituals that they adhere to every time they smoke a smoke, and can be quite obsessive about how they protect their stogies. If you’re not familiar with this obsession of smoking the ‘perfect’ cigar, then you also probably don’t understand the necessity for a cigar humidor. The basic purpose of a cigar humidor is to both store and protect cigars. Many cigar enthusiasts believe that cigars need to be stored at a precise temperature in order to maintain their peak flavor. That’s’s precisely what the cigar humidor does – maintains a constant temperature. You shouldn’t have to store machine made cigars like your Black and Milds in a humidor. Opinions change, but it’s’s generally thought the range between 68 and seventy degrees Fahrenheit is perfect for cigars. The humidity also has to be controlled, and kept at a level typically 70-72% humidity. Cigar backers have long discussed about the ideal temperature required for the storing of cigars. Some demand that even a slight fluctuation in temperature can prove detrimental to the flavour of their cigars, and insist on a temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Others are a little more flexible and allow a slight amount of temperature fluctuation. Usually all of them agree that the lower the temperature, the faster the cigar will age, which will then bring about a reduction in flavour. If you want to maintain the flavor, integrity and color of your fave smokes, then a cigar humidor is critical. What features should you look out for when getting a cigar humidor? The one necessary feature is that it has to be absolutely closed once the lid is shut. If the lid isn’t snug and secure, then it’s possible that the temperature or humidity inside will fluctuate. A lid that’s’s tight also prevents any other outside elements contaminating the cigars, and stops any moisture exchange. It’s helpful if the inside of the cigar humidor is smooth and uninterrupted, to prevent snagging of cigars ( or fingers ). It’s also helpful to have fittings inside the humidor to help in the keeping of the smokes.
What is inside of Miami Suites Cigars?
Monday, February 22nd, 2010The bulk of Miami Suites Cigars are made up of fillers; wrapped-up bunches of leaves within the wrapper. Fillers of different strengths are usually mixed to produce desired cigar flavors. In the cigar industry this is known as a “blend”. Many cigar manufacturers pride themselves in making the ideal blend (s) which will give the smoker the most pleasure. The more oils present in the tobacco leaf, the stronger (less dry) the filler. Types range all the way from the minimally flavored Volado taken from the base of the plant, through the light-flavored Seco (dry) taken from the middle of the plant, to the powerful Ligero from the higher leaves exposed to the most daylight. Fatter cigars of bigger gauge hold more filler, with bigger potential to provide a full body and complex flavor. When used, Ligero is always folded into the middle of the filler because it burns slowly.
Just Days to the Tobacco Prohibition
Tuesday, December 29th, 2009All Right, St. Louis has approved a smoking ban for all public facilities, with only a short list allowances. I am so tired of my human rights dwindling down, I am disgusted. I cannot understand why non-smokers have such a aggressive conviction on what us smokers are doing. I understand that smoking is unhealthy, but I made a conscience decision when I took up smoking, alert to the fact it was unhealthy. Just because non-smokers want me to stop, doesn’t mean that it will happen. Smoking in bars has been a privilage, but most restaurants include a chosen smoking room. If non-smokers prefer not to to smell the smoke, don’t eat in the smoking room, you are not unwilling made to sit in the smoking section. And as well as the workers of these bars that say they are distressed by second hand smoke, what a joke. I held jobs in the service industry for more than 10 years, and I know that almost all of thefellow workers were smokers. Interacting with the public, if anything, drives you to inhale. Also, I have never overheard one non-smoking co-worker ever complain about second hand smoke while working in the smoking room. Putting a smoking prohibition in restaurants and bars, can only save me money, for I won’t go out after the first of the year.

Cigars: Guide for the average cigar smoker
Wednesday, November 18th, 2009The typical method of categorizing cigars is by the method in which they are made. Cigars are either rolled by hand, or manufactured by machines. The novice smoker may be tempted to start by trying those machine made brands sold in Drug Stores, such as El Producto. However, the Novice Smoker should consider spending a few more pennies and moving up to hand rolled cigars, which are sold on the internet or at a local tobacconist.
Heavy smokers Vs Connoisseurs
MostIndividual cigar smokers have their own specific tastes, and have their own individual budget. Those who enjoy smoking multiple cigars per day may need an “everyday” cigar that is cheap. Therefore, the taste and cost of machine made cigars can be very appealing to some smokers. However, to the new smoker or experienced connoisseurs, the ones who enjoy an occasional cigar as a special treat, the hand rolled cigar is worth every dime.
